The GI Plus is our most traditional expression of the 1911 platform—a handmade American icon shaped by service history, refined through craftsmanship, and guided by intent. Every design decision balances visual harmony with authenticity, recognizing that the 1911, when rendered correctly, is inherently beautiful.

As the most historically inspired 1911 Nighthawk Custom produces, the GI Plus draws from pistols carried by American servicemen and civilians alike throughout the last century. Rather than tracing a timeline of incremental innovations, it distills what endures. Vertical rear cocking serrations, WWI-era inspired rollmarks that echo early stamped markings, and a deep, fully blued finish establish a profile that feels deliberate, balanced, and timeless.

A ring hammer—an homage to the lightweight Commander introduced in 1949—pairs with a modernized beavertail to improve ergonomics and eliminate hammer bite while preserving the pistol’s traditional silhouette. At the muzzle, a thicker barrel bushing and flush-cut, reverse-crowned barrel reflect classic custom-shop detailing, valued for durability as well as the refined symmetry they bring to the front of the pistol.

The sight system continues this philosophy of familiarity refined. Its silhouette recalls early fixed-sight 1911 pistols, yet its execution is distinctly modern. A fully adjustable, serrated rear sight precisely frames a 14k gold front sight bead, delivering a sight picture that emphasizes clarity, balance, and visual refinement in real-world lighting conditions.

Controls remain intentionally restrained. The GI Plus retains the classic nub thumb safety, staying true to the pistol’s heritage-driven design. Thirty lines-per-inch checkering on the front strap, mainspring housing, and magazine release provides secure handling without introducing visual noise or compromising the pistol’s clean lines, while diamond-checkered cocobolo wood grips inlaid with the Nighthawk medallion complete the pistol with a traditional hardwood long favored on classic custom 1911s—adding warmth, contrast, and a subtle signature without detracting from the GI Plus’s timeless profile.
