Nighthawk Custom is looking for highly skilled, motivated individuals to join our elite team of builders. This role is at the heart of what we do—crafting the finest custom 1911 and 2011 pistols in the world. Builders are responsible for transforming a precision parts kit into a fully functional, hand-fit firearm that meets the uncompromising quality standards of Nighthawk Custom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build complete 1911 and 2011 pistols from the ground up, starting with a parts kit and ending with a fully functional custom firearm.
- Perform critical gunsmithing tasks including slide-to-frame fit, barrel fitment, grip safety installation, trigger tuning, and all safety function checks.
- Maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to ensure each pistol meets or exceeds Nighthawk Custom’s legacy of excellence.
- Consistently meet weekly build quotas as set by management, without compromising quality.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment including files, sandpaper, blasting cabinets, Foredom tools, Dynabrades, manual lathes, and manual mills.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure seamless workflow and quality control.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in gunsmithing, machining, or high-precision mechanical work is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with 1911/2011 platforms is a significant plus.
- Skilled in the use of both hand and machine tools in a detail-oriented environment.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining production standards and timelines.
- A strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and pride in craftsmanship are essential.

Nighthawk Custom is seeking a highly experienced and driven CNC Machinist – Level 3 to join our elite machining team. This advanced-level position plays a key role in high-precision setups, production efficiency, and continuous improvement within our manufacturing process. If you’re passionate about machining, capable of leading others, and committed to excellence, this is your opportunity to contribute to the craftsmanship behind the world’s finest custom firearms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties of Level 1 & Level 2 machinists, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
- Execute complex 4th and 5th axis setups with precise center of rotation alignment.
- Efficiently manage time by preparing upcoming jobs while current operations are running.
- Minimize setup scrap, maintaining a high standard with minimal waste—typically only a few parts.
- Train and mentor team members on setups, tooling selection, and best practices.
- Propose and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and part quality.
- Independently handle prototype setups and assist in proving them out for full production.
- Contribute to fixture design and fabrication, supporting both R&D and production teams.
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of CNC machining experience, including advanced multi-axis setups.
- Strong understanding of G&M code, blueprint reading, and 3+2 machining strategies.
- Proven track record in low-scrap setups and optimizing production processes.
- Confident in training others and communicating clearly across departments.
- Proficient in time management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with prototype development and fixture creation is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to precision.
