It is with great excitement
that we announce Nighthawk
Custom® has become the distributor of hand made custom
knives by Keith Murr.
Northwestern Arkansas has
been known as the center of
custom knife makers now for over
half a century. To those living
in this area the name Keith Murr
is synonymous with high quality
custom knives of the finest
order, much like the late Jimmy
Lyle. For years Keith has made
knives for friends and
relatives, and taken dozens of
orders from customers all over
the U.S. who have been fortunate
enough to have seen his work and
just had to have one. Once you
see the attached pictures, it
will be easy to understand our
excitement, but first let’s talk
a little about Keith.
Keith
Murr began his knife
making back in 1987. He
started out using saw
blades, but learned very
quickly that they would
not hold an edge to suit
his taste. He started
investigating other
types of steel, and
began to learn about
tempering from some of
the big name custom
knife makers of twenty
years ago. As he
completed each knife, he
personally tested them
for strength and the
ability to hold an edge.
That’s something that he
continues to do until
this day. He uses his
knives hard and builds
them to stand up to the
most rigorous use.
After trying many types of
steel, Keith has settled on D 2.
He tempers it to a Rockwell
hardness of 58-60 in order for
it to sharpen and hold the edge
he expects without becoming
brittle.

Keith approaches his knife
making in a unique manner. He
told us "I was raised to believe
that everything I make reflects
on me as a person, so I do my
very best on every knife I
make." We agree. It’s the same
philosophy we use on building
our weapons, so we look forward
to many years of working with
him.
