Finish
|
Just
take a look at the
picture to the (below).
It appears to be some
kind of bright stainless
steel or polished chrome
doesn’t it? It’s not
though. It’s your gun
after the guys in final
preparation have
finished with it. They
have hand rubbed and
polished on it so much
that it looks like
polished bumper chrome.
This is what we mean
when we say we put an
emphasis on preparation.
Next it goes to the guys
below for them to work
their magic. Shane
applies a light bead
blast using a very fine
180 grit glass bead to
roughen the surface just
a little to allow the
Perma Kote™ to adhere
better. Following that,
Robert takes each little
part and prepares them
for the finish
application.

After Shane (top right)
finishes with the
blasting, he takes the
gun over to Robert
(bottom right) and he
checks each area of the
surface to make sure it
is ready to apply the
Perma Kote™. You can see
from the picture (above)
how it looks when Robert
gets it.
Robert (bottom right)
inspects each piece to
make sure the surface is
rough enough to let the
Perma Kote™ adhere to
it. Once he is satisfied
that it is, he starts
out putting each
individual part on
alligator clips ready to
hang for curing.
Following that, he takes
a HVLP (high velocity,
low pressure) gun and
begins applying the
Perma Kote™ very
carefully until he gets
a satisfactory coating.
Once the gun is
complete, it’s off to
the oven for low
temperature curing. |
