Building Your
Custom 1911
|
It
all starts here. After your
frame and slide have been picked
out, our Master Gunsmiths start
out
by doing the slide-to-frame fit
and then hand lapping it in. You
will always be able to tell it’s
one of
our guns when you pull the slide
back. The slide feels as though
it is running on ball bearings
from
the first day you get it, and it
only gets better with shooting.
Next will come the barrel fit.
None of
our barrels are drop-in barrels.
Each barrel lug is worked down
with a file slowly and
methodically
until it fits the slide recess.
Following that, they will fit
the extractor and checker the
rear of the slide
on the Talon or Predator models.
Don’t forget the slide top
serrations. If it’s a GRP, this
is when they
cut down the slide stop and
chamfer the frame around the
slide stop hole to allow you to
push it out easily. Once this is
completed, it’s off for final
preparation. |
